Dr. Gerard Evan is a biologist and, since May 2022, has served as Professor of Cancer Biology at King’s College London and a principal group leader in the Francis Crick Institute. Prior to this, he was Sir William Dunn Professor and Head of Biochemistry at the University of Cambridge. Dr. Evan studied at St. Peter’s College in Oxford where he studied biochemistry and was awarded his PhD in 1982 from King’s College, Cambridge for his research using Monoclonal antibodies. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), then Royal Society Napier professor at the Imperial Cancer Research Fund in London, and distinguished professor of cancer research at UCSF from 1999-2010, moving to Cambridge, U.K., in 2009. Scientists across the globe have recognized Professor Evan’s contribution to cancer research. He is a member of the European Molecular Biology Organization, the U.K. Academy of Medical Sciences, and the Royal Society – the U.K.’s scientific academy.
